Dr. Rebecca Marsh, MD
I am currently a Professor at the University of Cincinnati and work in the Division of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune Deficiency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I am the Clinical Director of the Immunodeficiency Program, the Clinical Director of the HLH Center of Excellence, the Primary Immunodeficiency Fellowship Program Director, and Co-Director of the Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory (DIL). I have extensive experience in the treatment of patients with inborn errors of immunity including primary immune deficiencies and immune dysregulatory disorders.
I have particular interest and expertise in XIAP deficiency, HLH, and the in transplantation of patients with inborn errors of immunity. I am considered an international expert in these fields. My lab has been studying XIAP deficiency for more than 10 years, and we are particularly excited about the possibility of using a special natural plant flavonol which is found in tea and many fruits and vegetables as a treatment for XIAP deficiency. This approach is exciting because if it is found to be effective in inhibiting inflammation in patients, it is a natural treatment without any known side effects that could potentially be taken for long amounts of time without adverse effects. We currently have a small amount of seed funding for this effort. Additional funding would facilitate opening of the pilot study.
